The Armies of Legarion

Forestmen

The forestmen are a cult of forest dwellers who live in the woods around the Lion Kingdom. Their main sanctum lies in the Sherbert Forest, but they have camps and fortifications in most big woods in our territories. After 2 big religious wars between the Forestmen and various alliances, they have settled down now live peacefully among us.

The People of the Forest believe that magic can be found in nature. (Of course we all know that magic can only be found in gems!) They choose to live as close to nature as possible and refuse to stay in our villages and castles longer than absolutely neccesary.

We know very little about the forestmen and their leaders, which makes them unreliable allies in times of war. We know the location of 2 of their settlements, but who knows how many hideouts they have around the kingdom. There is no way of knowing how numerous they are, which makes them hard to anticipate.

Chieftan Damiano

Chieftan Damiano

Damiano and his sister lead this pack of forestmen. The chieftain is responsible for the relationships between their pack and the Lion knights, and organised hunting parties to feed his people.

Chieftainess Victoria

Chieftainess Victoria

Victoria's role is training forestmen and handling internal affairs. She makes sure everything runs smoothly in their hideout in the forest.

Sage Herono

Sage Herono

Herono is a centaur, and the center of the oculte for this forestmen pack. He performs the function of priest and healer, and is very knowledgable about herms and medicine that can be found in the forest. Herono is true archery master. He could shoot a fly out of the sky if he wanted.

Forestmen Army

Army structure and equipment

All forestmen children are thought to shoot a bow. Archery is vital to their survival. Many of their people wield spears and short swords too, but the vast majority of their power lies in the use of bow and arrow. Forestmen don't use gem magic as a weapon. They believe it goes against their oath to the forest. Forestmen arrows have been known to sprout roots when they hit dirt though, and Herono has reportidly turned trolls into wood once or twice.

The forestmen don't wield Gemblades. It is possible they choose not to for religious reasons, but if that is the case their lunacy goes deeper than we thought.
